Question by Lady Godiva: what can you use for a goat shed or barn?
i hear that a 3 sided run in is okay, and i also heard that if you have a barn with a raised sleeping area would be okay as well.
would a horse barn (2 stalls) be okay for goats? the stalls are 12ft by 12 foot and do have plastic sheets that go over the front stall windows in the winter as well as back windows that open during the summer to open up air flow. . . there is also a 4 foot over hang in front of the stalls.
would adding the raised beds someone mentioned be okay? and i was thinking of a smaller breed of goat so how many would be a good number in the two stalls and not be too many goats? note: i dont have horses at the moment so the goats wouldnt be with a horse.
or should i just build a new out building for the goats?
i have 47 acres to choose from for places to fence in, i still havent figured out how many acres are needed.

Horse stalls would be fine for goats. I’m assuming the stalls are 12×12 each? That would be enough for a couple goats as long as they also have a fenced pasture. If possible, turn the 2 stalls into 1 big one. With enough room outside, this would work for 5-10 goats. The raised beds are good but optional. Goats like things to climb on, like cable spools and old tractor tires. Mine loved to sleep in an old bathtub filled with hay. Pygmy goats are small and fun. They must be kept in at least pairs. Males smell horrible, so either get females or have the males neutered.
