I have an old, very old (50 years), wooden patio that is rotted and termite ridden. I’ve been tearing it down, piece by piece, but what should I build in it’s place. Something easy, withstanding and has shade for the animals. Any ideas would help.

If u have the proper tools, u can built a Plecibo/ or a redwood deck.. Buy a book on that subject and see if u can do it. Make it a do-it-urself project. Good Luck. U will have to put it up piece by piece…just like a puzzle.

Easy Water Feature Without the Cost
Using a bit of improvisation, I built an effective water feature from items found in our shed and around the garden. Luckily, I had an old pump and some pebbles but these items would be much cheaper to buy than buying a ready made water feature. Today I won a court case where my neighbor took me to court to try and change our property boundaries. Come to find out, the judges ruling in my favor has brought to light that his deck is encroaching on my land now and I want to have his deck removed.
If we were dealing with a neighborly individual, we could talk reasonably to come to an agreement, but this neighbor loves court and is a drama king. So, I plan to go to civil court to have a judge get him to remove his deck off of my property. For your information: I did not own the property prior to the judgment and neither did my neighbor as it was once common area that is now soley owned by me.
I am a savvy individual and am confident I can conduct myself in a professional manner in court if I set my mind to it. However, do you think it would be possible for me to represent myself in a case like this?? I just hate the thought of paying an attorney $ 250. an hour to represent me in this clear cut case.
Yes, I agree with the first answer about “a fool for a client”, if this were a serious case with unknown circumstances. But, it has been proved that the land is mine now (I paid a lawyer big bucks for that outcome) so now all I have to do is get a judgment for the deck to be moved off of my newly acquired land. All of the hard work has been tried and filed with the town, so it is a matter of record that the land is mine. My neighbor cannot claim adverse possession (he tried that and failed) because he never owned the land in the first place as it was a common area where a deck never should have been built in the first place (no permit was taken, therefore there was no permission granted for the deck to be built). Due to these facts, it is just a matter of getting a judge to order him to remove the deck because the neighbor will not talk to me like a man and be civil about it.

Well, ya know what they say, “He who represents himself has a fool for a client.”
But it’s ultimately up to you. You proved your case once. But don’t let that cloud your objectivity.
