Can someone offer their experience, bad or good with patio awnings, retractable cloth or fixed aluminum?
Question by tate16t: Can someone offer their experience, bad or good with patio awnings, retractable cloth or fixed aluminum?
I currently have a wood awning covering my 12×16 patio and I’m stuck trying to decide whether to repair it, installing a new roof and updating the wood to pressure treated wood. There is some water damage and I have problems with carpenter bees nesting in the wood.
Which solution would be best, update and fix the existing wood awning, purchase a cloth retractable or purchase an aluminum awning? The difference in cost for each is within a couple of hundred dollars.

I prefer the cloth type, with good care they last a long time, are quiet in rain storms, and to me are better looking and offer a softer look, and are available in many colors. It may be cheaper for you to repair your current one but if you are looking for a new look I’d get the canvas cloth awning, this would eliminate the bees also

Not good at all. For a good deck to be good, you need multiples (3-4, preferably 4) of each good card like Lightning Bolt. This deck will not win any games.

When building yourself a computer, what is a good harddrive?
Question by paulbunyan217: When building yourself a computer, what is a good harddrive?
I’m having a friend at work fix up my computer, and he’s gutting it out, and we’re basically building a whole new one with just my case and power supply, and we’ve got all the parts picked out, but not the harddrive, so I was just wondering if you had any suggestions? I won’t need too much space for storage, but I’ve heard that having a bigger harddrive makes your computer go faster, I’ve also heard it doesn’t matter. Anyway, any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

A bigger hard drive does not make your computer go faster. It could do just the opposite actually. There are speed ratings on hard drives. 7200 RPM is the standard right now. 5400 RPM is too slow, avoid that. It honestly doesn’t matter a whole lot, for the sake of an easy answer, just get whichever 7200 RPM hard drive that is on the shelf. Western Digital is a very popular brand.
Here’s some 7200 RPM SATA HDDs http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007603%20600003340&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=RATING&PageSize=20
Solid State Drives are extremely fast and if you install Windows on one of these you will indeed see a huge speed increase. Here are some of the those: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=636&name=SSD
This is important: If you are using your old power supply, you need to know how many watts it puts out. If it is less than 300W, you may need to upgrade it as well. This depends on the type of new hardware you’ll be installing. If you are putting in high end hardware (motherboard, CPU), a super duper video card, 4 RAM sticks, etc.. you’ll definitely need at least a 500W PSU. An insufficient PSU could literally destroy all the hardware in the machine.
