I moved from Ireland to Portugal when I was 10 years old against my will. I just turned 14 (02 April =] =]) recently. So it’s been about 3 and a half years now. I still long to move back and despise it here in Portugal. I miss Ireland like crazy (not so much Ireland, but the town I grew up in). I dislike everything about Portugal; from the roads, to the buildings, to the people, to the whether, to school, etc.
Whenever I think about the fact that I may not get to move back for many many years, I begin to have a sort of panic attack.
Therefore, I’m always just pretending and imagining that I’m going to move back to Ireland before I turn 15. It’s really weird, I imagine the friends I’ll have, and school, and what I’ll do and where I’ll go and basically just imagine another life in Ireland, because I’m so miserable here. I know it’s not healthy, and it sounds weird, but really, I’m not crazy xD
When will I get over this home-sickness?

I am 32 years old and I moved from home in 2005 and I still miss home sometimes. I think about it all the time. Sometimes you never get over it. You may need to go back and see if there is a reason why you wouldnt want to be there and maybe that will change your mind. I recently went back home and spoke with old friends. The economy is so bad there, hardly anyone is working and I thought…hmmm I better be grateful for where I am now. I could be back home in poverty but instead I am blessed with a great career, nice home and car and still striving. But if you go back and its better you may have the adverse affect. LOL! Good luck!

I have wanted one for awhile but hesitate because I dont want to spend good money on something that wont make it thru the first bad rainstorm. Any body have one? Can I put it up by myself? And can it be taken down easily at the end of summer for storage?

Nuts and bolt assembly, might need 3 hands. Will need a short ladder. Probably only need to remove the cloth top for winter as it will not hold much snow. You can assume about 3 years service from the top if you take it in for winter. See about getting a replacement top at time of initial purchase as the tops seem to get scarce when you need a new one.
We made wooden platforms upon which to set each corner of the frame and screwed the frame to the platforms. Then we stacked 3 each, 60# each, concrete decorative blocks on the platforms to hold the gazebo in place during strong winds. Neighbors didn’t and the gazebos went flying.

for $ 79.99 is a flimsy one and not worth the money unless you view it as a put up – take down for weekends only. It’s not wind worthy.

13-Ft. Screened Gazebo for sale @$ 40. Nice price BUT this one would not be easy to secure against wind. You notice that each column is narrow and not much of a base to secrue to a platform. Perhaps so, but from the picture given, looks iffy.
My suggestion is go for the Domestications, Gateway Gazebo. We purchased ours from WalMart 4 years ago. It is a different unit, but does have the four colums. Each column forms a 90 degree – half box with each side 18″.
We keep it up all year, but Tucson doesn’t get much snow, but did get 3″ this last winter and the gazebo fabric held it fine. Have replaced the top once and had a heck of time finding one to fit. We have mounted an outdoor cieling fan in the center and that is nice. We don’t mess with the screens, but do get a lot of use out of the solid curtains to shield from sun and strong breezes.

This is a short video of our back yard, showing the gardens and pond we built this year. There are strawberry beds on the south side of the pond and waterfall. Iris beds and miniature iris along with lilies in the center of the half round walkway. Our herb garden is just outside the back door, we have dill, sage, time, rosemary, parsley, mints both peppermint and spearmint, bee balm, and others. Our house was built in 1803 and is on the national historical register. An old outhouse that was built by the WPA still stands in the back yard. All our out buildings were built with locally grown and milled Poplar and recycled windows, hand made doors. Much of the wood was recycled from old barns.
